[Dungeon Keeper 2 Main Page]

System requirements:

Minimum:
Pent 166 MHz with MMX, 32 Meg of RAM
A software render is included, so a 3D accelerator card is not required, but it should help if you have one.  ( I personally recommend a 3D card for all cases.)

Recommended:

Game Features:

Your Realm

  • Dungeon Keeper 2 is designed as a 3D game from the ground up.  Expect to see lots of tasty visual effects (such as colored lighting) for spells and the first-person view.
  • Your dungeon view is scalable, and you're able to adjust the pitch of your view as well as direction.  You can define up to 3 camera views, and switch to these views at any time.  This will allow you to view your dungeon from any angle.
  • There is  a new soundtrack that will change tempo depending on what's currently going on.  Creatures also have unique sounds to indicate their mood.  For example, Trolls will whistle while toiling away in the workshop, and the Dark Mistress let's you know that she's having quality time in the torture chamber.
  • You are able to carry over rooms and items researched from one realm to the next.   This way, your minions no longer have to research each room from scratch on every level.  Once you've researched a room on one level, you are  able to build that room immediately on the next level.
  • The finished game has about 70 levels.
There are  20 "campaign" maps (Those that advance the storyline),
    5 secret levels,
    20 Skirmish maps,
    and 20 multiplayer maps.

There is also a "My Pet Dungeon" mode  that allows you to design your dream dungeon  with no heroes or objectives.  Once you build this type of dungeon up, you can unleash waves of  heroes and see how well your defense work.
  • The game, as shipped, supports up to 4 players in multiplayer games.  Bullfrog plans to release a patch later that will increase this number.
  • A level editor will not be included with the game as it ships, but should become available at a later date, perhaps as an add-on pack.    It will not only allow you to create new levels, but you'll also be able to change creature stats, and add new skins to the models.   It should be possible to add your own face to that of a hero.
  • The first 3 levels gradually introduce the gameplay, and act as a tutorial of sorts.
  • As some new creatures enter your domain, a short game-in movie shows you how to keep your new minion happy, and will demonstrate their fighting style.
  • The game features a strategic skirmish mode with user-configurable settings.   The Skirmish mode allows you to play multiplayer games against computer opponents.
  • Creatures may be trained up to level 4 using the training room.  The combat pit can be used to train your creatures  up to level 8.  The only way a creature can gain experience above level 8 is through actual combat.
  • Monsters and Objects are  true 3-D Objects and not just sprites.  As such, Monsters will not be able to walk through objects or each other (As they can do in DK1).  Each  tile will only hold one creatures, so you'll not be able to pile lots of creatures into a tight area (as you can in DK1)
  • Possessing most creature will provide special abilities that would otherwise be unavailable to you.  For example, The vampire will be able to hypnotize enemies and have them attack other enemies.  Also, the Dark Elf will have a 'sniper mode' that let's you pick off those pesky do-gooders from a great distance.
  • Creatures that you pick up and drop will be stunned (and vulnerable to attack) for a short time.  Stunned creatures will take double damage from attackers.
  • The game has about 20 cutsscenes that appear between each level.  These cutsscenes, while not advancing the story line, are amusing to watch.  The narrative by the Mentor is really what advances the storyline
  • Multiplayer Games via LAN and Internet  will be possible.  A free Internet Lobby Server, like Blizzard's Battle.net, will be provided by Bullfrog.
  • Free Web support for updates and add-ons is planned.  Bullfrog will provide program upgrades, and new monsters, spells, and traps for at least 6 months after the games release.
  • Temporary Alliances can be made with Rival Keepers in order to defeat the Heroes, but you'll eventually have to break the alliance and defeat them as well.  (Assuming, of course, that he doesn't do it first).
  • There are  two types of traps.  You'll have the familiar mechanical traps with a set number of charges, but there are  other traps, such as the sentry trap,   that will use the new mana system.
  • There are  two types of bridges, wooden and stone. Wooden bridges can be placed over lava, but they won't last long there.  Stone bridges, when placed over lava, will not be destroyed by the heat.

The Reaper is back, and he has a few choice words about how you ran things the last time...
