Realm 01: Eversmile

Difficulty: very easy

Goal: To create Lairs, Treasure Rooms, and a Hatchery to defeat the Lord of the Land.

New Rooms on this level: Dungeon Heart, Treasure Room, Lair, and Hatchery
New Creatures:                 Fly, Beetle
Starting Gold Amount:     2500
Starting number of Imps: 3
Your Portal Max:                7
Enemy Portal Max:             none
New Spells:                        Possess Creature, Create Imp

Opening dialogue: Set in the realm of joy, the people of Eversmile are plagued only by aching facial muscles, and not anthrax as we had hoped.  Eversmile is a disgusting land of good humor and polite frivolity.

Objective: The first thing a Keeper needs is somewhere to keep gold, when it's been mined out of the rock by his imps. To create a Treasure Room, select the Treasure Room Icon from the Rooms Panel and fill the empty area to the west with Treasure Room tiles.

You're not really having trouble with this level, are you?

All you really have to do in this level is follow the instructions. The first 4 Realms are really tutorials about basic dungeon keeping. It's really a good idea to replay these levels until you are comfortable with the basic controls.

You start out with a 3x3 room west of your Dungeon Heart. Select the Treasure room icon, and make that room into a Treasure room by left-clicking each tile in the room..

To the east of your heart is an area of gold to dig out. Right-click the mouse to change the pointer back into the arrow, then select all the Gold tiles. Your Imps will dig out the Gold and cart it back to your treasure room. Digging out the Gold will also expose a small water area. Let your imps claim the area they just dug out.

You'll then be told to build a lair. Do so by selecting the Lair icon. (It "sparkles" at this point to alert you to it's presence) and left-clicking each tile of the newly-claimed area to build a lair. Wait for your imps to fortify the area they just dug out. If you're in the mood, you can dig a 1-tile wide "ledge" completely around the water area, and wait for your imps to fortify the walls all around the water as well. (Note: Normally, water areas are too expansive to allow this, but in this level you can, so give it a try.)

Anyway, you'll be told to dig a tunnel north of your heart to the portal. Do this, and wait for your imps to fortify the walls of that tunnel and the portal. The minute you claim the portal, creatures start to arrive.

Now, dig a small room 3x3 room to the south of your heart and make it into a hatchery. (monsters gotta eat too, you know). Also, at this point, you can make imps, so make 2 or 3 extra imps, and wait for them to fortify the walls of your hatchery.

At this point, heroes will approach from the Northeast. (After a certain amount of time has passed, placing the 9th hatchery tile triggers their approach.). You can see them as white dots on your overhead map (upper-left corner). However, if you followed my directions, there's no way for them to get in, so dig a new tunnel east of the water area when they get close to that area. When they heroes break through your wall, switch to the creature panel, pick up the flies and beetles and drop them by the heroes. Your creatures should be able to beat them easily. (but try to keep your imps out of harms' way, if possible) After the first wave of heroes are dead, the Lord of the Land will approach (He's such a blowhard). Just give him the same treatment (drop everything you have on him, and let your creatures do the dirty work.

Congratulations on your first victory, Oh Evil One.

Victory Text: Your work here is done. Now there is no-one to prevent you from obliterating this nauseating realm and expanding your empire into a neighboring land. Nice.

Closing Dialogue: Brana Hawk, War and Anthrax have taken to this land like fleas to a rat. The region is, thanks to your unstinting efforts, now a major eyesore.
